# Add your website

Rin answers from your knowledge: the pages of every website you add, plus your help center. A website you add is a knowledge source, and each page Rinhelp reads from it is a page. An owner adds websites under **Settings > Knowledge sources**.

## Add a website

1. Under **Settings > Knowledge sources**, enter the address of your website, such as `example.com`, in **Website address**.
2. Click **Add website**.

Rinhelp starts reading the website. It begins at the address you gave, follows the links to other pages on that same website, and also uses your sitemap if you have one. It sees pages the way a browser does, so pages built with JavaScript are read too. It skips anything your `robots.txt` file keeps out. Rinhelp's reader is called `RinhelpBot`, in case you want to allow or block it.

The address must be a public website. An address on a private network, or one with a port number, is refused with: "Enter the address of a public website, like https://example.com."

You can add more than one website, such as your main website and your documentation if they live on different addresses. Adding the same address twice isn't possible.

## Watch it finish

Each website shows its status:

- **Reading this website. Reload to see progress.** Click **Reload** to check again.
- **Ready.** Rin can answer from it. The pages it read are listed, with their titles and addresses, and **Last read** shows when.
- **We couldn’t read this website. Try “Refresh”.** Check the address, and that your `robots.txt` doesn't block the whole website, then click **Refresh**.

**Pages we left out** lists pages Rinhelp found but didn't read.

## Read it again after you change it

Rinhelp doesn't read a website again by itself. After you change your website, click **Refresh** next to it. The new pages replace the old ones when the reading finishes. **Refresh** is unavailable while the website is being read.

## When Rin starts answering

Rin answers new conversations once you have a website that says **Ready**, or a help center with a published article, and AI replies left on your plan. See [Plans and billing](/articles/66554130-03d5-4712-82f8-e83b1690c663). Until then, new conversations go straight to your team.

While your only website is being read again, it doesn't count as ready, so new conversations go to your team until it finishes. Publishing a help center article, or adding a second website, avoids the gap. See [Write your help center](/articles/d53429cc-f939-4469-b08e-cfdf56434e75).

## Remove a website

Click **Remove** next to it and confirm. Its pages leave your knowledge, so Rin stops answering from them.
