# Write your Help Center

Your Help Center is a public website of articles, and it is one of the places Rin answers from. It is also the quickest way to fix a knowledge gap, because a published article is in your knowledge as soon as you publish it, with no waiting for a website to be read again. If you have no website for Rin to read, a Help Center with one published article is enough for Rin to start answering.

Free and Pro get the same Help Center.

## Write an article

Any teammate can write and publish articles.

1. Click **Articles** in the sidebar, under **Help Center**.
2. Type a title under **Title** and click **Write an article**. The article opens as a draft.
3. Write the text in the box. It uses Markdown, a simple way of writing headings, lists and links. The buttons above the box add the markings for you, and the preview next to the box shows how it will look.
4. To add an image, click **Add image** or paste one into the text. Use a PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 2 MB.
5. Pick a **Section** if you want one.
6. Click **Save** to keep a draft, or **Publish** to put the article on your Help Center.

A draft is only visible to your team, and Rin doesn't use it. After you publish, saving changes updates the article and Rin's knowledge at once. Click **Unpublish** to turn it back into a draft. **Delete** removes it for good after you confirm.

Articles can be in any language. Raw HTML in an article is shown as plain text, not run.

## Group articles into sections

A section is a named group of articles. Under **Add a section** on the **Articles** page, type a name under **Section name** and click **Add section**. Use **Move up** and **Move down** to put sections in the order you want, and **Delete** to remove one. Its articles stay, without a section. Articles with no section are listed under **Articles** on the public site.

## Find your Help Center

Your Help Center is at a rinhelp.com address based on your workspace, such as `acme.rinhelp.com`. An owner sees it under **Settings > General**, in **Help Center address**. The address shows "Not found" until you publish your first article.

Visitors see your workspace name, your chat widget image and color, a search box (**Search for answers**), and your sections and articles. **Powered by Rinhelp** shows at the bottom unless you remove it. See [Plans and billing](/articles/66554130-03d5-4712-82f8-e83b1690c663). Once there is a published article, the chat widget links to the Help Center too.

Each article also has a plain Markdown version: add `.md` to the end of its address.

### Change the address

Under **Help Center address** in **Settings > General**, change **Subdomain** and click **Save**. Use 3 to 63 lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, and pick a name no other Help Center uses. Links to the old address stop working right away, unless you use a custom domain.

### Use your own domain

You can show your Help Center on a subdomain you own, such as `help.example.com`.

1. Under **Custom domain**, enter the subdomain under **Domain** and click **Add**.
2. The page shows a CNAME record to add where you manage your domain's DNS (the settings that tell the internet where your domain's website lives). Copy **Name** and **Value** into a new record of type CNAME.
3. Click **Check**. If it says it isn't working yet, wait a few minutes and check again, because DNS changes can take a while.

If it isn't working within 7 days, Rinhelp removes the domain so you can start again. Once it works, your rinhelp.com address sends visitors to your domain. Click **Remove** followed by your domain to go back to the rinhelp.com address.
