# Keep your old help center links working

Links to your old help center, in emails, search results and other websites, can keep working after you move. Once your old help center's domain points at Rinhelp, each old address leads to the same article in your new help center.

## How it works

When your AI agent [imports your help center articles](/articles/a79b3172-a803-44a2-9236-0ab73d56b051-import-your-help-center-articles), it saves each article's old public address with it. Nothing else is needed for the articles: once visitors reach Rinhelp on that domain, the old address opens the new article.

## Point your old domain at Rinhelp

This works when your old help center had its own domain, such as `help.yourcompany.com`. Your AI agent can add the domain for you, or an owner can do it under **Settings > General**, in **Custom domain**:

1. Enter the domain under **Domain** and click **Add**.
2. Rinhelp shows one record, a **CNAME**, with its **Name** and **Value**. Add it where you manage your domain's DNS (the settings that tell the internet where your domain's website lives). Use the copy buttons next to each.
3. Click **Check**. If it isn't working yet, wait a few minutes and try again, because DNS changes can take a while.

If the domain isn't working within 7 days, Rinhelp removes it so you can start again. Once it works, your help center shows at that domain, and its rinhelp.com address sends visitors there.

Your agent asks you before it adds the domain, because changing the record moves your help center away from your old help desk.

## When to do it

Do this as part of the switch-over, after the articles are in and you've checked them. Until the record changes, the old help center keeps serving its own pages.

## If your old help center had no domain of its own

Old links follow only through a domain you own. If your old help center lived at your old help desk's address, update the links you control, such as on your website, to your new help center's address.
