Connect your AI agent

An AI app that works in Rinhelp for you is called an AI agent. It acts as you, with your role, and never has more access than you do. Connect one in two steps:

  1. Add Rinhelp to your AI app using the server address below.
  2. Sign in to Rinhelp when the app asks. If the app can't open a browser, give it an API key instead, as described under Any other app below.
https://mcp.rinhelp.com/mcp

You can also copy the address from Settings > AI agents, under How AI agents connect.

When you sign in, Rinhelp asks whether to connect the app to your workspace. Choose the button that starts with Connect. If you don't have a workspace yet, create it in Rinhelp first, then connect again.

Each connection shows up under Settings > AI agents. There you can see when it was last used and revoke it.

Then follow the section below for your app: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Grok Bot, Hermes, OpenClaw or any other app.

Claude

Claude Desktop and the Claude mobile app use the connectors you add on the web, so there is nothing extra to set up.

On a Free, Pro or Max plan:

  1. Open Customize, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Rinhelp, paste the server address, and continue.
  3. Pick Use Claude's published identity, then Add.
  4. Choose Connect and sign in to Rinhelp.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of your Claude organization first adds the connector in Organization settings, then Connectors, then Add, Custom and Web. Each person then opens Customize, then Connectors, finds Rinhelp and chooses Connect.

In a chat, choose +, then Connectors, and turn Rinhelp on.

Add the Rinhelp plugin

The plugin teaches Claude how to work in Rinhelp. It adds three things you can ask for by name, or start by typing /:

  • inbox: answer the conversations waiting on you.
  • gaps: find the questions Rin couldn't answer, write the articles that answer them, then test Rin to show it answers now.
  • help-center: review your help center for articles that are out of date, repeat each other or disagree.

To add it, open Customize, then Plugins, choose Add, then Add marketplace, and enter rinhelp/plugin. Install rinhelp, then connect Rinhelp under Connectors as above.

Claude Code

Install the Rinhelp plugin. It adds the Rinhelp server and the inbox, gaps and help-center tasks described under Add the Rinhelp plugin above. In Claude Code, run:

/plugin marketplace add rinhelp/plugin
/plugin install rinhelp@rinhelp

Then type /mcp in Claude Code, choose rinhelp and sign in in your browser. Rinhelp warns "This app is running on your own computer" because Claude Code finishes the sign-in on your machine. That is expected when you just started the connection yourself.

Claude Code in the cloud, and Claude routines, don't see plugins added this way. Add Rinhelp as a Claude connector instead, as described under Claude above.

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, add a custom MCP server with the server address above. Choose OAuth for signing in, and sign in to Rinhelp when asked.

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it changes anything. That check is ChatGPT's own and doesn't approve anything in Rinhelp. See Approve actions.

Grok Bot

Grok Bot uses an API key. Create one as described under Any other app below, then add a custom MCP server in Grok Bot with the server address and send the header Authorization: Bearer followed by your key. Run the check under Check your connection to be sure it works.

Hermes

Hermes can't sign in to Rinhelp through a browser, so it uses an API key. Create one as described under Any other app below, then add this to ~/.hermes/config.yaml:

mcp_servers:
  rinhelp:
    url: 'https://mcp.rinhelp.com/mcp'
    headers:
      Authorization: 'Bearer rhk_your_key'

Start a new Hermes session, or type /reload-mcp in a running one.

To teach Hermes how to work in Rinhelp, install the Rinhelp skills:

hermes skills install rinhelp/plugin/skills/inbox
hermes skills install rinhelp/plugin/skills/gaps
hermes skills install rinhelp/plugin/skills/help-center

OpenClaw

OpenClaw can't sign in to Rinhelp through a browser, so it uses an API key. Create one as described under Any other app below, then add this to ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json:

{
  "mcp": {
    "servers": {
      "rinhelp": {
        "url": "https://mcp.rinhelp.com/mcp",
        "transport": "streamable-http",
        "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer rhk_your_key" }
      }
    }
  }
}

Keep transport as shown. Without it, OpenClaw uses an older kind of connection that Rinhelp doesn't offer. Then check the connection:

openclaw mcp doctor rinhelp --probe

Any other app

Rinhelp works with any app that can connect to an MCP server, which is a standard way for AI apps to connect to other services.

  • If the app can sign in through a browser, add the server address and choose OAuth. Rinhelp accepts sign-in only from apps it trusts, which today means Claude and ChatGPT.
  • If it can't, create an API key: open Settings > AI agents, name the app under API keys and choose Create key. Copy the key now, because Rinhelp shows it only once. Have the app send it with every request as the header Authorization: Bearer followed by the key. The key never expires. Revoke it in AI agents when you stop using it.

An AI agent can't create keys. Only you can, in the app.

Check your connection

Ask your AI app:

Use Rinhelp's account_whoami action and tell me which workspace and role you have.

It should name the workspace you meant and your role. If it can't find the action, check that the app lists Rinhelp as connected, then start a new chat.

Next, wake your AI agent when a conversation needs it, and see how approvals work.
