Replace your chat widget
To move your website's chat to Rinhelp, swap your old help desk's chat code for Rinhelp's one line. Your AI agent lists your websites in Rinhelp and gives you the code. You paste it where the old code was.
When to replace it
Replace it as part of the switch-over, after your AI agent has imported your past conversations. Until you do, chats keep going to your old help desk.
Steps
- List your websites. The agent adds every website that showed the old chat widget, so Rinhelp's can appear there. The chat widget only works on websites you list.
- Get the code. The agent gives you the code to paste. You can also copy it under Settings > Chat widget, in Add it to your website.
- Swap it. On each page that loaded the old chat widget, remove the old help desk's code and paste Rinhelp's in its place.
- Check it. Open one of those pages. Rinhelp's chat button appears in a corner, and the old one is gone.
The agent asks you before it changes your websites list, because it moves where customers reach you.
To change the chat widget's color, greeting and image, open it from your own buttons, or recognize signed-in customers, see Set up the chat widget.
Then catch up
Once email and chat both come to Rinhelp, the agent imports the conversations updated in your old help desk since the import began. See Import past conversations.
Good to know
- Rin answers new chats once you've added a knowledge source, such as your website or help center. See How Rin answers.
- If the chat button doesn't appear, check that the website is in the list under Websites where the chat widget can appear (one per line).
